He discussed possible contacts with the neighboring country with Parliamentary Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis on Thursday.
“We spoke about what fields we could achieve the most. The professor presented his vision that the fields include culture and medicine, as well as long-standing personal contacts. These are the operations we see we can cooperate with the great nation,” the parliamentary speaker told journalists.
Pranckietis is scheduled to meet with Russia’s Ambassador to Lithuania Alexander Udaltsov next week.
“Every contact with neighbors is crucial. (…) Contacts are determined by a few things. First of all, there should be movement on both sides, in the direction of each other. Secondly, there should be mutual respect, regardless of the size of the country. There should also be certain confidence in the areas they plan on cooperating in,? said Vinkus who also heads the parliamentary group for relations with the Russian Federation.
