Lithuania expects invitation to begin OECD accession talks Wednesday

Lithuania expects to be officially invited to begin OECD accession talks.

According to the prime minister, membership in the OECD would be a big accomplishment for Lithuania comparable to the adoption of the euro.

In Paris the Lithuanian prime minister is scheduled to meet with OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria. The two will discuss Lithuania’s achievements and readiness for further OECD accession process.

Butkevičius will also meet with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte. The Dutch and the Lithuanian prime ministers will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and cooperation in the context of the OECD. In 2015 the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting is under the chairmanship of the Netherlands.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius will be travelling with the Lithuanian delegation as well.
