Lithuania hands over munitions elements to Ukraine

“These are the military necessities, as (Ukraine’s) President (Petro) Poroshenko put it nicely – munitions elements that the Ukrainian army needs,” the minister said but refused to elaborate on the items handed over to Ukraine.

“We support Ukraine and are willing to continue the support,” said Olekas.

On Sunday, Poroshenko told local media that Lithuania had met its promise to provide munitions.

“We have already received the munitions our partners in Lithuania have promised us. We have received the first dispatch of warm clothes, boots and equipment from Canada, we are still expecting two more airplanes. We have also received a shipment from Poland and other partners,” the Ukrainian president said.

Last November, Lithuania and Ukraine agreed on military-technical cooperation, which will include supply of munitions elements, Poroshenko then said.

“We agreed on military-technical cooperation, on provision of specific munitions elements to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, to be exact. I believe it is a concrete sign of support,” the Ukrainian leader then added.
