Lithuania plans to take part in Expo 2020 in Dubai

A draft government resolution calls for earmarking 200,000 euros in next year’s state budget for preparations for Lithuania’s planned participation in the exhibition to be hoisted by the UAE city of Dubai.

According to the Environment Ministry, Expo 2020 will run from October 2020 to April 2021 under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

“The exhibition is expected to bring together an absolute majority of countries from around the globe and to be visited by 25 million people during the half-year,” the ministry said.

It estimates that the construction of Lithuania’s pavilion, services and participation will cost the country some 6.5 million euros.

Preparatory work is planned to begin next year.

Reportedly, over 3.860 million people visited Expo 2017 held in Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana between Jun. 10 and Sep. 9.
