“It’s planned that the German-led multinational battalion consisting of Allied units will be deployed to Lithuania in the beginning of 2017 and be located in military installation near Rukla town,” reads the press release.
On Monday, the ministry specified that stationing of the battalion was expected in spring.
In an effort to deter Russia, the Alliance agreed this spring to station an international battalion in each of the three Baltic states and Poland.
In Lithuania, the battalion will be led by Germany and involve troops of one of the Benelux states, Norway, Croatia and France.
