Lithuanian ballet dancer wins big in Canada

The principle dancer of the National Ballet of Canada has been living and working in Canada since July of last year. She tells lzinios.lt that, as a rookie of the company, she did not expect that she would win the award.

Dancetabs.com remarked on Dronina’s wonderfully expressive nuanced performance.

The Lithuanian dancer will be going to Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, where the National Ballet of Canada will perform La Sylphide. The première and Dronina’s performance in it in early March received much praise.

Dronina looked like she came out of a nineteenth-century ballerina engraving, said Thestar.com.

“Dronina is an irresistible performer,” according to Theglobeandmail.com.

Critics noted her sense of style, lightness and musicality of performance which was described as “absolutely disarming”.

Analyst Deirdre Kelly says that Jurgita Dronina is perfect as Sylphide, thanks to her beauty, mirthful energy, natural elegance and technical precision. All of this helps create a whimsical, mystical, but nonetheless humanly sensuous character.

In the end of July, The Winter‘s Tale will be presented to the New York public.
