Lithuanian company says it has no information on suspects in France’s Alstom case

Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba said UK institutions asked in 2013 for information on projects launched at Lietuvos Elektrinė in 2005 and involving Alstom as a contractor. The company cooperated with Lithuania’s Special Investigation Service in May, 2013 as it was responding to the UK’s request for legal assistance.

“The information provided in response to the request was everything the company has provided to law enforcement institutions on this matter. The company has so far not received any information on any allegations related to taking a bribe or other crimes against existing or former employees of Lietuvos Elektrinė,” Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba said in a statement on Tuesday.

Alstom Power, an Alstom subsidiary, and two members of its staff have been charged with bribery over an eight-year period. The charges are related to Alstom Power’s contracts with Lithuanian companies Vilmetrona and Lietuvos Elektrinė.

The London court heard that the bribery charges relate to contracts with Lithuanian companies Vilmetrona and Lietuvos Elektrinė, a legacy energy company which was acquired by Lietuvos Energija (now Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba) in 2011, and a project Alstom was involved in at the Elektrėnai Power Plant in Lithuania.

Alstom Power Sweden carried out a 200-million-euro flue gas desulphurization equipment project at Lietuvos Elektrinė in June 2008.
