Lithuanian court finishes hearing testimony of spying suspect

“No, I do not admit anything. I am guilty of not going to the security immediately,” he said at the hearing.

As requested by the lawyer, the court agreed to hear one of the audio recordings during the next hearing on June 19.

The hearings in the case are nearing their end, as judge Jurgita Mačionytė has urged both sides to prepare their closing speeches.

According to case information, Lipskij secretly photographed documents and other objects in his office at Oro Navigacija to later hand them over to the Chief Intelligence Board of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ General Staff.

During a hearing in January, prosecutor said that Lipskij met with Belarusian KGB agent Sergey Kurulenko at a supermarket to provide verbal information about the Zokniai airport, namely, the location of objects, new object plans, entrance aspects, communications and infrastructure.

Detained more than a year ago, Lipskij faces up to 15 years in prison.

Gediminas Grina, former chief of the Lithuanian State Security Department, has said that the intelligence operation to bust Lipskij took more than three years. Grina refused to elaborate on the amount of information provided by Lipskij to Belarus, saying: “We cannot let them know what we know.”

The authorities say Belarus is likely to have shared the information with Russia.
