In Washington the minister is going to take part in the meetings with US Vice-President Joe Biden, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and other officials of the US Administration.
During the visit separate meetings are scheduled between Linkevicius and the State Department‘s Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives Ed Royce, the mayor of Chicago, the governor of Wisconsin and heads of non-governmental organisations.
The meetings will discuss relevant transatlantic agenda and bilateral US-Lithuania relations: the implementation of the NATO Wales Summit decisions on collective defence, economic co-operation, energy and information security, prospects of Lithuania’s membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In Los Angeles and Chicago Foreign Minister Linkevičius will meet with the Lithuanian communities. In Madison the minister will open the new Lithuanian Honorary Consulate and take part in the Congress of Lithuania’s honorary consuls in the US.
