Lithuanian parliament speaker to go to Germany to discuss refugee situation

On October 11-15, the delegates are scheduled to meet with German Bundestag President Norbert Lammert, chairpersons of Defence and European Affairs Committees members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the state secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

After the Board of the Seimas on Wednesday approved the delegation’s visit to Germany, parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee member Audronius Ažubalis, representing the opposition Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, criticized the decision to vote down a proposal to send a Seimas delegation to Germany, Austria and Hungary to see the refugee crisis in person.
