Lithuanian PM congratulates Straujuma on reappointment as Latvia’s prime minister

“I am glad that we will be able to continue the cooperation built on support and mutual understanding. Please be assured that Lithuania highly values the close and warm relations between our countries, and I am convinced that the intensive and friendly relations will continue developing in the best possible direction, and mutual understanding will help solving problems, working and paving way for the future together,” Butkevičius said in his congratulatory letter.

In his words, Lithuania and Latvia share more than just the strong historic relations that developed over centuries, the intensive European agenda and the shared security objectives but also successful cooperation in regional and global formats.

The Straujuma-led Latvia’s new government was approved by the parliament at an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday.
