Lithuanian politicians to present Marshall Plan for Ukraine to ambassadors

The presentation of the Marshall Plan to foreign diplomats will take place at the parliament, attended by ambassadors of Western countries and the states of the Eastern Partnership Program.

The Marshall Plan was last year initiated by Lithuania’s former prime minister Andrius Kubilius who visited the majority of Western European capitals together with Parliamentary Vice-Speaker Gediminas Kirkilas. The plan then got the attention of Lithuania’s government.

“The meeting at the Seimas is continuation of our lobbyist campaign,” Kubilius told BNS.

Among participants of the presentation should also be Parliamentary Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis and Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius.

The Lithuanian politicians and diplomats aim to secure support to the Marshall Plan for Ukraine during the EU Eastern Partnership Program summit later in November.

Marshall Plan was the title of the 20th-century United States assistance to Europe during the Cold War. The plan helped restore economies in Western Europe and make them more resistant to the Soviet influence.
