Lithuanian president hands credentials to new ambassador to Poland

At the meeting, the ambassador and the president discussed possibilities of enhancing bilateral cooperation and regional security, the President’s Office said.

In Grybauskaitė’s words, it is important for both Lithuania and Poland that the decisions taken at the recent NATO summit in Wales are implemented shortly.

The meeting also addressed strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland, energy matters and implementation of gas and electricity link projects.

Lithuanian communities in Poland and close cooperation in science and culture was also on the agenda of Monday’s meeting.

According to the press release, economic relations between Lithuania and Poland have been strengthening over past year, with Poland’s direct investments in Lithuania ranking 2nd in the end of 2013, while Lithuanian investments in Poland were 5th.

Born in 1951, Adomavičius has a degree in law at the Vilnius University. He has worked as consul general in Warsaw, ambassador in Vienna and Rome, the Foreign Ministry’s secretary and vice-minister, the chief of the OSCE mission in Montenegro and headed the Foreign Ministry’s Transatlantic Cooperation and Security Policy Department.
