Lithuanian president: Memory of 9/11 victims obliges to fight terrorism

“Today the world remembers victims of 9/11. Their memory obliges us to make every effort to prevent terrorism and ensure peace and security for our people,” Grybauskaitė said in a quote communicated to BNS by her press service.

On 11 September 2001, two hijacked passenger airliners crashed into the World Trade Center skyscrapers in New York. In addition to the two jets, terrorists had hijacked two more airliners, one of them crashed into the Pentagon near Washington, D.C., and the second one fell down in a field in Pennsylvania far from its assumed destination – the US Capitol or the White House.
