Lithuanian president: Russian invasion jeopardizes Ukraine’s future and international peace

“Lithuania strongly condemns the Russian military invasion into Ukraine. Such actions jeopardize Ukraine’s survival, international peace and security,” the president said in a comment provided to BNS by her spokesperson.

In Grybauskaitė’s words, Lithuania is initiating an urgent meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council in the wake of the developments in Ukraine.

Earlier on Thursday, Ukraine and some Western countries accused Moscow of direct participation in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. In NATO’s words, more than 1,000 Russian troops are present in Ukraine to help separatist fighters that seek to break away from the country.
