“What we are hearing at least for now, it looks like a one-way proposal and ultimatum but not proposal of peace,” the Lithuanian president told Britain’s BBC.
Grybauskaitė also stated that people fighting against Kiev should be referred to as criminals supported by the Russian army.
“When we are talking about the rebels, it is not the rebels really. It’s the open Russian aggression on the Ukrainian territory,” said the Lithuanian president.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed what he calls a seven-step roadmap for ending the Ukraine crisis.
Among other things, it calls for rebels to halt their operations, Ukrainian forces to pull back from their positions and an end to government airstrikes.
Moscow has denied having sent its forces to Ukraine, however, NATO has reported presence of more than 1,000 Russian troops in the country. The West has accused Moscow of attempting to create yet another “frozen conflict” and securing its influence in Ukraine.
