The incident took place at around 10 PM when troops from the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanized Infantry Battalion were returning from Exercise Hunter 2014 in Pabradė to their permanent deployment location in Rukla, central Lithuania.
The soldier reportedly fell out of the truck when it stopped outside the battalion for ID checkup, the Ministry of National Defence said on Friday.
The soldier received first medical assistance at the scene and was taken to a hospital in the nearby town of Jonava and was later transferred to Kaunas Clinics.
The soldier’s next of kin have been informed of the incident.
The Military Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
