Lithuania’s attention to Ukraine’s army to continue

At the meeting in Vilnius on Tuesday, Olekas told Muzhenko that the newly-elected parliament had last week restated continuity of the Lithuanian policies towards Ukraine as one of its first decisions in office, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry said.

“Lithuania started its defense reforms 20 years ago, and they are still in progress. We are now sharing our experience with Ukraine. We suggest that it actively uses the experience of retired Major General Jonas Andriškevičius, Lithuania’s first post-independence chief of defence, through his participation in the activities of the Ukrainian defence reform advisory council,” Olekas, the acting minister, said at the meeting.

During the official visit in Lithuania, the Ukrainian delegation headed by General Muzhenko also met with Lithuania’s Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas to discuss bilateral and multilateral military cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine, the security situation and relevant issues of Ukraine’s army reform.
