Lithuania’s cabinet convenes to discuss national security challenges after Russian invasion of Ukraine

“The undeclared war against a sovereign state is unsettling the European security system. As tension rises in Ukraine, we must assess the readiness of our services, their abilities to promptly perform the duties they are entrusted,” said Prime Minister Butkevičius.

According to him, it is crucial for the international community to act together and find ways to force Russia to comply with international law, and discontinue the military operation.

“Lithuania supports Ukraine in political and diplomatic measures, it is ready to provide humanitarian and technical aid,” emphasised the prime minister and added that the first batch of aid collected by the government and public organisations will soon reach Ukraine.
