During an official ceremony on Tuesday, Janukonis restated the Lithuanian great appreciation of the mutual partnership and warm relations between the two nations, also stating support to Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“Lithuania will continue supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Janukonis.
In his words, Ukraine has every single chance of becoming Ukraine’s success story, while Lithuania will continue its active support to the Ukrainian efforts to integrate with the European Union.
Before the designation to the ambassadorial post, Janukonis headed the Foreign Ministry’s Eastern Neighbourhood Policy Department.
