Lithuania’s new education minister sworn in

Her oath was administered by Parliamentary Speaker Loreta Graužinienė.

Before her ministerial appointment, the politician had the position of chair of the Seimas Committee on Education, Science and Culture.

In the past, she worked for many years at schools and at the Education Department of Skuodas District Municipality.

Pitrėnienė graduated from Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (now – Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences). She received her master’s degree in educational sciences from Klaipėda University. Pitrėnienė has been a member of the Labour Party since 2003.
