Lithuania’s UN ambassador calls for international condemnation of “illegal” elections in occupied Donbass

“As Ukraine is preparing for the critical national elections on 26 October, the separatists are planning an “election” of their own on 2 November. Another sham, illegal and illegitimate election, another cynical and blatant breach of the Minsk agreements. The international community must stand firm in condemning such illegal acts,” Murmokaitė said during the meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador expressed Lithuania’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Murmokaitė also voiced concern over human rights violations in separatist-controlled territories of Ukraine as well as gross violations of human rights of the indigenous Tatar community in Russia-occupied Crimea.
