Masiulis appointed Lithuania’s Minister of Energy

The prime minister told the national television LRT that Masiulis had been presented by leader of the Labour Party, Speaker of the Seimas Loreta Gaužinienė.

“I met the Seimas speaker recently and she presented the candidate for energy minister. Rokas Masiulis, head of Klaipėdos Nafta, is the candidate,” the prime minister said.

In his words, Masiulis is competent and has good knowledge of the international energy system and energy projects being implemented in Lithuania.

“First of all, it was agreed that a new energy minister must be competent, not a novice, and have good knowledge of the international energy system, and also of projects being implemented in Lithuania. I hope this person (Masiulis – BNS) will continue being responsible for the implementation of the LNG terminal project,” Butkevičius said.
