The NATO–Russia Council will discuss the war in Ukraine, reducing military risks and the situation in Afghanistan, according to a Reuters report.
The NATO-Russia Council was set up in 2002 in order to further communication and trust between two former adversaries. The last meeting was held in June 2014, after which relations have gone sour in the wake of the Ukraine crisis.
NATO, like the European Union, holds Russia guilty of land-grabbing after it annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine. NATO has also accused Russia of supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine.
