The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Embassy of the Republic of France in Lithuania.
France was the first NATO state to start cooperation with Lithuania in the field of defence and the first foreign country to provide material assistance to the then newly-developing Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The cooperation between Lithuania and France in the field of defence is based on the agreement renewed in July 2013. Until then, Lithuanian-French defence co-operation was based on a bilateral interdepartmental agreement regarding defence co-operation, which was signed in May 1994.
