NordBalt interconnector back online

Svenska Kraftnat, the Swedish operator of the cable underneath the Baltic Sea, said on Monday that the interconnection was fully operational.

Lithuania’s electricity grid operator Litgrid said that electricity was flowing from Sweden to Lithuania at 240 MW on Monday morning.

NordBalt was switched off last week due to a malfunction some 10km from the cable’s converter in Nibru. It was fixed on Sunday.

The 700 MW electricity interconnection between Lithuania and Sweden was launched last year and has been switched off several times this year due to malfunctions.
