Mattis would be the first top-ranking official of the US President Donald Trump administration to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius said Mattis could come to Vilnius this summer.
“This has not yet been officially confirmed but there are plans,” he added.
In Linkevičius’ words, the visit by the US defense secretary is a mutual initiative amid the intensive contacts with the new presidential administration of the United States.
