Protection of Lithuania’s LNG terminal ‘impressive’

“My impression is that Klaipėdos Nafta and the Public Security Service are doing their job well,” Žilinskas told BNS in a telephone interview from the LNG terminal. The Public Security Service is an agency subordinate to the Interior Ministry.

In his words, the safety zones in place next to the terminal are also guarded, with surveillance cameras operating inside and outside the terminal, and officers make regular patrol rounds and can carry out submarine surveillance when needed.

Žilinskas said he noticed a few faults in the LNG terminal protection, noting they were nothing major.

The interior minister and Energy Minister Rokas Masiulis went to inspect the terminal after a private yacht crashed into a tanker next to the Būtingė terminal a few weeks ago.
