Vida Smigelskienė, spokeswoman for the Fire and Rescue Department, told BNS that fire and rescue teams had been called in 44 times in the past 24 hours, including 23 times to remove branches.
Emergency medical services in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda told BNS that there had been no reports of people frozen to death or suffering severe frostbite during that period.
Weather services forecast that the mercury may drop to -21C in some areas next night.
