This is the first time modern automatic rifles HK416A2 and HK417D have been given to riflemen. The rifles will be used for training and will add to and update the union’s existing arsenal, the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union said.
Established in 1919, the Lithuanian Riflemen’ Union is a state-funded voluntary paramilitary civic self-defence organization assisting the state in ensuring national security. It now has more than 8,000 members. Around a thousand of new members joined the union last year due to the existing geopolitical situation in the wake of Russia‘s aggression against Ukraine.
