Rising star of Lithuanian rugby trains with England national team

Australian Eddie Jones, who took over the reins of England’s national team after their World Cup debacle, had his players run out for a final practice with student rugby talent before Saturday’s match with Scotland.

Jonas Mikalčius is Hartpury’s winger and has scored 15 tries this season in the National One division.

“What a fantastic opportunity for our guys, to have the chance to train with England Rugby at a facility like this. While we pride ourselves on the international players we produce, the majority of them won’t end up playing at this level, so it really is something special,” said Hartpury Director of Rugby, Alan Martinovic.

Hartpury is one of England’s top 40 rugby clubs, and has produced players that have represented a range of nations at international level including Ireland, Wales, England, and Georgia. The club has strong ties with Premier Division side Gloucester.
