The SBA Group’s philosophy and efforts to develop sustainable real estate projects with exceptional architecture to enrich Lithuania have been recognised. SBA Urban’s projects – the BLC business centre in Kaunas and the SBA Industrial Innovation Valley near Klaipėda – have been recognised as the best in two major competitions.
In the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association’s “For Sustainable Development” competition, the winner in the Commercial/Administrative Project category was the BLC business centre in Kaunas, next to SBA’s renovated Vienybės Square. It was designed and implemented by an international team of architects: 3deluxe from Germany and architect Rimantas Giedraitis.
The BLC business centre was chosen as the best out of 29 in the “For Sustainable Development” competition by the readers of the Delfi.lt portal, who also voted to award it the “People’s Voice” nomination.
The SBA Industrial Innovation Valley near Klaipėda, developed by SBA Urban and Notus Developers, was recognised as the best industrial project in the same competition. The project was developed by National Prize winner Rolandas Palekas and Paleko Archstudija.
The SBA Industrial Innovation Valley also triumphed in the Baltic Real Estate Investment Forum organised by Verslo Žinios. It was also recognised as the best in the Baltic States in the Industrial Property category. This is a project that shows that even industrial buildings can blend into the environment and be sustainable. Two SBA companies, Innovo Logistika and Laminn, operate in the valley, and the region’s most modern furniture factory, Inno Line, will start operations in spring 2022.
The SBA Industrial Innovation Valley is an eye-catcher on the motorway to or from Klaipėda. The building’s smoothly rising façade gives the impression of a plateau and blends in with its surroundings, while the greenery-filled roof helps save energy for heating and cooling. It uses only green electricity generated from renewable sources, has a smart lighting system and generates heat through an air-to-air system. The logistics centre and the factory were acquired by the Estonian capital investment company EfTEN Capital in 2020.
The reconstruction of Vienybės Square and the BLC business centre has given Kaunas and Lithuania a modern attraction for residents and tourists alike, full of bustle and life from morning to night. The architectural vision of the entire complex was awarded the best in the Urban Space category at the German Design Awards. The completed project was named Best Architecture in the prestigious IF Design Awards. Vienybės Square and the BLC business centre project were also awarded Best Landscape Architecture at the BLT Built Design Awards.
