Seimas opposition parties discuss interpellation against agriculture minister

“The opposition met to discuss what we are going to do about the agriculture minister, whose answers to lawmakers’ questions were unsatisfactory,” Social Democratic MP Algirdas Sysas told reporters after the meeting.

“He keeps getting confused in his explanations. I believe we have to proceed to the next stage envisaged in the statute, which is to prepare an interpellation,” he said.

Jurgis Razma of the conservative Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats described Wednesday’s meeting as the first step toward a possible interpellation, adding that the parties expected to make formal decisions on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the political groups of the Social Democratic Party, the Homeland Union, the Liberal Movement and Non-attached Members.

Razma noted that votes from the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania–Christian Families Alliance would be decisive if it came to an interpellation. However, no lawmaker from that political group was present at the meeting.
