Seimas speaker readying to visit Poland

“This year is special for Lithuanians and Poles – we are celebrating centennial anniversaries of the restored independence of our countries. It gives us a good opportunity to look back on the path our countries have walked, our common history and the things we share, the key challenges the people of Lithuania and Poland are facing today and in the future and what we, as politicians, must do to help our societies feel safe and our economies thrive,” Kristina Frolovienė, spokeswoman for the parliamentary speaker, told BNS.

On Wednesday, the Pranckietis-led delegation should meet with Poland’s Sejm Marshall Marek Kuchcinski and later proceed to the Warsaw Philharmonic Society for a solemn event to mark 100 years of Lithuania’s restored statehood.

The Lithuanian parliamentary speaker is due to deliver a speech at the Polish parliament on Thursday and later meet with Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karcewski.
