Seimas speaker urges Latvia to launch sea border treaty ratification

The speaker of the Lithuanian parliament raised this issue during his meeting with Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis in Riga.

“For more than ten years, the Latvian side has shown no political will to address the key problem. Expert-level discussion on resource sharing issues alone are not meaningful,” Pranckietis said in a press release.

“Lithuania would welcome Latvia’s wish to start the process of ratifying the treaty in the parliament,” he added.

The speaker of the Seimas is in Latvia for events marking the centennial of the restoration of the state of Lithuania.
