Some 18 Syrian refugees relocated to Lithuania after a break of 10 months

Evelina Gudzinskaitė, the department’s director, told BNS that the refugees had come from camps in Turkey.

The last time Lithuania took in refugees was on December 21, 2017.

“We should adopt decisions on their asylum request. Their integration will then take place,” the director said.

This brings the total number of people relocated to Lithuania from Italy, Greece and Turkey to 486 people, of whom 142 have stayed in the country, including more than 30 who have been returned from other EU countries or have come back voluntarily.

Interior Minister Eimutis Misiūnas told BNS earlier this year that the resettlement process stalled because Italy and Greece had failed to send questionnaires filled out by migrants to Lithuania.
