Tallinn named European City of the Trees

The title of European City of the Trees recognizes the successful operations of the City of Tallinn to planting, maintenance and preservation of city trees and being a role model for other Estonian cities in the tree maintenance sphere, the city’s press service announced.

The deputy mayor of Tallinn, Arvo Sarapuu said that Tallinn’s residents feel proud of the recognition of high-level experts, the abundance of trees and green areas in the city and their care. Sarapuu said that the jury was impressed by how tree-felling and maintenance cutting is organised in the city, in the city’s web based information system listing all issued permits, and the replacement tree-planting obligation.
