Santa Pakenytė, 24, will compete in women’s heavyweight judo event.
She also made history when she became the first Lithuanian female judoka to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Pakenytė earned a continental quota spot from the European region as the highest-ranking Lithuanian judoka in the IJF World Ranking List. Besides judo, Pakenytė also practices sambo and won a bronze medal in World Sambo Championships during the 2011 season. Recently, she was fifth in Budapest’s Grand Prix event.
During the Olympic Games, Pakenytė will try to combine her experience in sambo with the practices in judo in order to be the first Lithuanian judoka to win a medal in the Olympic Games.
