Team Lithuania at Rio Olympics: Modern pentathlon

In the men’s event, Lithuania will be represented by 29-year-old Justinas Kinderis. The Lithuanian is an experienced athlete, a two-time world champion (2010 in team event and 2013 in individual event) and three-time winner of European Championships (2009 in relay and team events and 2014 in mixed relay).

Now, after gaining the right experience and being in the top 10 in the world, Kinderis is ready for the goal of his life, an Olympic medal.

The current Olympic champion Laura Asadauskaitė will try to repeat her achievement from London Games. The 32-year-old athlete was crowned the 2015 UIPM World Cup champion in Minsk, Belarus, and won two gold medals at the 2016 European Championship, in women’s team and women’s individual events.

Asadauskaitė is a respected athlete in her field with seven European gold medals to her name, two-time world champion, once world vice-champion and three-time bronze medal winner at World Championships.

Asadauskaitė will use her experience and will give a good fight against younger athletes in the upcoming Olympic Games.

The second member in the Lithuanian women’s team in modern pentathlon is 21-year-old Ieva Serapinaitė who won silver in the 2015 World Championships together with Lina Batulevičiūtė in the women’s relay event. In 2016, Serapinaitė qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics via Olympic rankings and will compete in the women’s individual event.
