US must act together with Europe against Kremlin propaganda, Lithuanian top diplomat says

“To ensure alternative sources of information for Russian-speaking audiences, the US and the European Union must back each other up instead of competing. It is important for the US to return to Europe with programmes of public diplomacy. If we do not consider propaganda a serious problem, if we do not coordinate our actions by strengthening alternatives to the Russian-language media, we will not win the fight,” Linkevičius said in a press release.

The Lithuanian top diplomat stated his position on Tuesday at a meeting with US Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel and at a discussion with an expert community. The meeting addressed ways of efficiently deterring the Russian information pressure and proper response to the misinformation campaign, the Defence Ministry said.

“Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, is engaged in aggression against its neighbour Ukraine, denying everything in public, and Western structures cannot efficiently stop it,” the ministry cited Linkevičius as saying.
