Although recent reports indicated that the Lithuanian could return in the middle of the play-off series against Cleveland, now that seems less likely.
“I am 50% recovered,” Valančiūnas told Canadian media yesterday.
His ankle injury is undergoing treatment since May 7 but the Lithuanian is recovering more slowly than had been predicted. The 24-year-old Lithuanian star has already missed five playoff matches through injury.
Before the start of the Conference finals Raptors coach Dwane Casey had said Valančiūnas would certainly not play the first two games of the series but it seems that his team-mates may need to beat Cleveland and reach the NBA finals to set the stage for Valančiūnas’ return.
