Vilnius hosts global special operations forces symposium

Organizers describe it as a unique opportunity for Lithuania to find new ways of improving its defense and unconventional warfare methods and to make a realistic assessment of the threats to its national security.

The Lithuanian Defence and Security Industry Association (LDSIA) is co-hosting what is the first Global SOF Symposium outside the United States.

The participants include Lieutenant General Joseph Osterman, deputy commander of the US Special Operations Command, Theresa Whelan, assistant secretary for special operations at the US Department of Defense, Michael Lumpkin, special envoy and coordinator of the Global Engagement Center at the US Department of State, and US Congressman Jeff Miller, who is chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

David Hobbs, secretary general of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, is also expected to come to Vilnius.
