World Lithuanian Economic Forum invites to discuss business and science in Israel

This is the biggest business event for expatriates and will be attended by famous business leaders, the Lithuanian political elite and members of the Lithuanian and Litvak communities. Participants will share their experience, reinforce their inter-relations and discuss opportunities for implementing common projects.

This year’s World Lithuanian Economic Forum will take place on 20-21 October 2015 in Tel Aviv, Israel. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, the patron of the Forum, is planning an official visit to Israel during the event.

“The choice of Israel for the event was not a random decision made by the organisers of the World Lithuanian Economic Forum. Israel is an extraordinary country; it is a leader in terms of innovation and high technology. It has well-developed science and business connections all over the world. The large community of Litvaks who remember Lithuania well and graduates from Lithuanian universities working in Israel in different fields are excellent potential communication channels and these must be taken advantage of in a more efficient way. We believe that the Forum will help enhance bilateral economic relations and will pave the way to new common business and science projects”, said Edminas Bagdonas, Lithuania’s Ambassador to Israel.

This year the Forum programme will have a special focus on the synergy of business and science, on innovation, new technologies, breakthroughs of scientific research and experimental development, as well as on economic and cultural relations between Lithuania and Israel.

“Lithuania has many common historical links with Israel and personalities which unite these two countries. Israel, like Lithuania, sees itself as a country of high technology. This is why this year’s Forum participants are invited to gather here, to exchange their experience, to compare solutions and successful projects of countries which specialise in innovations. We want to send the message to the world that Lithuania is a country of innovations, it is a valuable partner offering particularly favourable conditions for cooperation between business and science”, Valdas Sutkus, president of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, said.

The Forum is organised by the Lithuanian Business Confederation in cooperation with other major partners, namely Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) and the Embassy of Lithuania in Israel and others.
