40 Lithuanians detained during five-day international operation in the Netherlands

139 Polish and 120 Romanian nationals were also detained during Operation Trivium. The Lithuanians were detained for the possession of forged driver’s licenses, public order offences, drink-driving and traffic rule violations resulting in accidents in which people were injured. The forged documents were presented by drivers whose driver’s licenses had been revoked.

While in the Netherlands, Polish, Romanian and Lithuanian traffic police officers assisted their Dutch counterparts in dealing with traffic offences and crimes. Operation Trivium also involved representatives of Europol, transport police and customs services.

A similar operation was conducted in the United Kingdom in 2013-2014.

Over 1,000 vehicles and people were inspected during Operation Trivium and over 500 offences were recorded, and 20 people were detained under previously-issued international arrest warrants.
