5 parties agree on Vilnius ruling coalition

The coalition will have 36 members, including the mayor.
“We have agreed on all things, most importantly, on agenda-related issues, and also on the committees and their chairmen and on all other positions,” Vilnius Mayor-Elect Remigijus Šimašius, representing the Liberal Movement, told BNS on Thursday evening.

He said that he himself would propose a candidate for chief of municipal administration and that would be a “person from the business sphere”.
According to Šimašius, the leaderships of the political parties should discuss all the agreements and their candidates for vice-mayors so that the coalition agreement could be signed on Tuesday.

The Social Democratic representatives at the negotiations, Gintautas Paluckas, said the talks would be finalized on Friday and they plan to sign the coalition agreement early next week.

The Liberal Movement has 16 seats on Vilnius Municipal Council, including the mayoral position, followed by the HU-LCD (8), the Social Democrats and the Lithuanian List part (4 each) and the Order and Justice party (3).

Set to remain in opposition, the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania the Lithuanian Freedom Union (Liberals) have 10 and 6 respectively.
