“The negotiations always include an issue related to certain problems of Achema or a signature of a separate contract with Gazprom, and applying the right price for imported gas to this concern,” said Butkevičius in an interview with Žinių Radijas radio on Thursday.
On Friday the prime minister plans to meet with the members of the Board of Achema Group, who, according to Butkevičius, have already discussed the situation with the leadership of Gazprom.
As reported, on Wednesday Achema, the largest fertilizer manufacturer in Lithuania, announced it was halting part of production.
The unfavourable situation in the company has developed due to declining fertilizer prices and prevailing high prices for natural gas. If there are no changes in gas and fertilizer markets, Achema plans to operate in this mode throughout the quarter.
The head of the company says that the number of employees will not be reduced due to halting production.
