Twenty-one percent of the polled said they would vote for the Social Democrats if general elections were held the coming Sunday. The Order and Justice party, also part of the ruling block in Lithuania, came in second with 11.8 percent, followed by the opposition Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (9.2 percent) and the Liberal Movement (7.8 percent). The popularity of these parties barely changed in September, compared to July.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party, the third partner in the ruling coalition, has seen the biggest drop in its popularity over the last several months as its rating has plummeted from 9.7 percent to 6.6 percent.
The survey also showed that the Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union would also pass the 5-percent threshold to get into parliament as 5.7 percent of people would vote for the party.
The survey by public opinion and market research company Vilmorus was carried out on 10-15 September.
