The Seimas also reduced the number of deputy speakers to five, from seven, and decided that they will no longer have official cars attached to them. The speaker remains the only parliamentarian with an official car and a driver at his disposal.
The amendment to the Seimas Statute, proposed by Ramūnas Karbauskis, head of the Peasant and Green Union’s political group in the parliament, was passed in a vote of 102 to 11 with 17 abstentions.
