Minister of Agriculture Virginija Baltraitienė has met with the CEO of the retail chain Lidl, Radostin Dimitrov Roussev-Peine, to discuss the prospects and challenges of the country’s food industry.
“We want that more local manufacturers‘ products would reach supermarket shelves. I am glad that Lidl is ready to cooperate in this regard,” said Baltraitienė in a statement.
Lidl representatives said they would be interested in having all the production they sell made in Lithuania.
Baltraitienė said that in order to achieve that goal, Lithuanian industries needed to increase production levels. Then it would also be easier for Lithuanian producers to enter foreign markets.
