British Post Office names Vilnius second cheapest city to visit in Europe

The Post Office Travel Money calculated average travel expenses through the City Costs Barometer for the top ten cheapest European cities for tourists. The criteria were ticket rates for transfers from the airport, public transport, sightseeing buses, heritage sites, museums and art galleries.

Polish capital Warsaw took the first place in this list: with two overnights at a three-star hotel, meals, visiting sights and transport costs coming to €145.

Despite a 15% increase in prices, the same package in Lithuania‘s capital Vilnius costs less than €148 which secured the second place for Vilnius. In third place was Budapest at €158 and the Latvian capital Riga was in fourth at €170.

Stockholm was judged the most expensive city in Europe to visits with a service pack price of over €417. Dublin was the most expensive city to visit in the eurozone with a package cost of €393.

At €173 for the package, the Portuguese capital Lisbon became the cheapest city to visit in Western Europe.
